Sophie was born on the 20th August 1962 in Greenwich, England and brought up in Blackheath, South East London. After leaving school she took a degree in drama at Manchester University.

Sophie Aldred portrayed Ace (real name Dorothy known by few) joining the Doctor in Dragonfire (1987) and continuing until the end of Survival (1989).
